Adult to child ratios
We always ensure a safe adult to child/young person ratio that conforms to the guidelines of the Scottish Executive Education Department and with the accompanying school/youth group.Risk Assessments

Police checks and First Aid
All Wild things employees are police checked, and those who work in the field carry full and up-to-date first aid qualifications.Motor Vehicle Safety
Where we provide transport, all vehicles comply with government and local authority safety standards. Wild things staff are only authorised to drive such vehicles after having taken the relevant local authority driving tests.Cutting tools
Some of our programmes include the use of cutting tools. Whislt we endeavour to reduce the risk involved wherever possible, there are, inevitably, some risks attached to this activity. To minimise this risk we always ensure a high leader to participant ratio and instructions are given in a clear and concise manner, taking into consideration different learning styles. The tools are counted at the beginning and end of clearly defined work sessions. The safe use and care of tools is demonstrated before they are used.A group is first evaluated on their behaviour and listening skills before we bring out tools. Teachers and accompanying youth workers are also consulted at this stage.
Adventure Licensing Authority
Wild things holds a license with the Adventure Licensing Authority which inspects activity centres and other activity providers on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). If the Licensing Authority is satisfied that the provider complies with nationally accepted standards of good practice they issue a licence.A copy of our licence can be seen here.
Wild things! Insurance
