The Enchanted Woodland

On the 23rd May 2007, in Sanquhar Woods, Forres our local children experienced the mysteries of the Enchanted Woodland, through stories and art, in a beautiful setting.

CREEPING TOAD

A WILD THINGS RESIDENCY….

  • “A spring evening. People gathered in groups under the trees. As the light faded, a forest-coated storyteller invited visitors to enter a world of enchantment. Beyond a gateway of colourful flags, fruit-shaped lanterns lit up and poems painted on leaves and tissue rustled in the breeze. As the company set off through the trees, small creatures peered out from their hiding places and visitors who entered the woods with silence and respect, saw the hidden life of the woodland unfold around them and woodland children told their own stories in clearings among the trees...”

A celebration of woodland wildlife and woodland people - An environmental community art’s event.

During the month long event, all the primary schools in and around Forres explored the life of the woods through a number of themes. Each school approached a different aspect of the woodland and added their own unique component to our final celebration.

This event was kindly sponsored by Highland 2007, The Co-Operative Group, Forres Community Woodland Trust and the Baxters Foundation.
